Casual Friday/Model for a Night

TGIF!!!

Last night I had the privilege of  participating in Skinny Minority and Macy’s Fashion Night Out event.  Three women and I modeled outfits that highlighted clothing for curvy women.  The purpose of the event was to show  women how to dress for their body type. Karima of Skinny Minority was an excellent host!  Karima is an advocate for plus size/curvy women and a  talented stylist. She is very knowledgeable about fashion and how to use fashion to accentuate your curves.  The audience was eating up all the tips and advice she was giving out!  Another plus to participating in this event was meeting the other models  Mecca of Style Out Loud   and Yve (fit model and journalist). Not only were these women beautiful, they were extremely friendly and nice.

I was very pleased with the outfit I wore because it flattered my  body and represented who I am.  I wanted to show the “grown and curvy”  women in the audience  that style has no age or size!

Have an awesome weekend!

My awesome co-workers who came out to support me! Yes TJ was there too!

You look AWESOME!! Confident, poised, and beautiful. And public speaking, yikes! I would be more terrified to speak in front of a crowd than to walk a runway… but I bet you did both with style and grace. Congrats on a successful show! 😀

I know I’m maddd late, BUT I actually have a fashion/styling question about peplum and since you’re the peplum queen I figured I’d ask you! *lol* I actually tried on the same dress Yve has on in her picture . . . and I love it! But, I would want to wear it with a jacket . . . any suggestions for what kind/type/style/brand to pair with it? I’m thinking a cropped, tailored jacket in a color like fire engine red….thoughts?

Actually ALL of those you can wear with a peplum top. I usually wear a more fitted jacket to contour to my waist and show off the peplum ruffle. I say try all of the different jacket styles & see what works for you. Fire engine red is always a great option! 🙂
