Night and Day

Happy Monday all! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I know 99% of my outfit posts are me in work gear so on Friday I was invited a semi formal function on the Spirit of Philadelphia. This was the perfect opportunity to wear something other than work clothes! Since it was semi-formal dress I pulled out my lavender cocktail dress I bought last summer for another function. I believe a gal should have at least one go to cocktail dress. I love the ruching on this dress because it accentuates my waist. The ruching gives the dress a wonderful shape. It’s a great dress for plus size gals. I love purple so the lavender color complimented my skin tone. My glittery peep toe pumps rounded out the outfit perfectly. It was almost as if they were made specifically for this dress. I also wore my favorite red lipstick from MAC which I think brings me out. A plum shade would’ve been just “blah” on me.

My girls & I had such a GREAT time Friday night! The DJ played a good mix of new and old school songs. I finally learned how to Dougie and I even busted out my old break dancing moves (luckily there are NO pictures of that mess! LOL)! We laughed and enjoyed ourselves. It was the perfect way to end the week and usher in the weekend.

Shondrika, me, Narjis and Shoshanna...Having a ball!!

Of course no post wouldn’t be complete without my OOTD! Honestly, I picked out this outfit when I got up this morning. I’m totally lazy for not putting my outfit together last night. I don’t really have time in the morning to be scrambling for something to wear. Whenever I do this I always forget something. So my $12 Kenneth Cole flats are making their blog debut because I forgot to put my pumps in my bag!

Hope you enjoyed my night & day look! Have a wonderful evening!

oh my! Lavendar is your color! You look dazzling πŸ™‚ I really love the ruching on the dress. I never seem to find dresses that are structured like that, that actually fit me correctly. Also, your OOTD is great too. I’m definitely going to be stealing outfit ideas for when I start teaching and have to look all professional. The pink blazer is especially gorgeous!

Love both looks! I bought a similar blazer from Lane Bryant simply because I loved the color and wanted something different than my usual muted colors for work. You are giving me inspiration as to how to wear it!

The color of your cocktail dress and the ruching remind me of the dress Octavia Spencer wore to the Golden Globes. Very pretty!

I’m very impressed by your “thrown together” look and I think your flats are cute πŸ™‚
