Casual Friday/Back in the Saddle

TGIF all!

I finally returned to work  this week after jury duty and I have to say I was glad to be back!  I’m pretty autonomous at my job so I missed being able to work at my own pace. Luckily there wasn’t a huge pile of work waiting  for me  so it easy to get back into the swing of things.   Another thing I missed was dressing up for work.  Don’t get me wrong, I love being casual but I also love wearing a cute work outfit with a great pair of shoes!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ode to the Dress

Happy Hump Day all!

To say that I love dresses is a serious understatement.   I love how they cling to my body and accentuate my curves. There was a time where I associated dresses only with special occasions such as weddings. Back then if you asked me to wear one, I would scoff and ask “why?”  Now instead of throwing on a pair of jeans and tee to run errands, I make a bee line for the maxi dress!

What are your favorite dresses?

Have a great day!

Ode to Denim

Happy Hump Day all!

Who doesn’t love denim?  It’s  so versatile that you can wear it with everything and almost anywhere.  Before I started blogging, I owned  two pairs of jeans, one black and one blue.    Blogging has exposed me to  different kinds of denim and helped me to move outside my comfort zone.     I bought my first pair of colored skinny jeans last year and never looked back.    Now I have several pair including bright yellow!  I no longer hesitate to  pair denim with pleated skirts, leather jackets and graphic prints.      I hope to find a really nice denim dress to add to my collection soon.  Any suggestions?

How do you like to wear denim?

Have a wonderful day!

Casual Friday/Quick Change

TGIF all!

Im going to  a Cinco de Mayo soiree (partay!) after work with a bunch of girlfriends  so I  needed an outfit that could go from day to night.  I find that dresses are easy to transform  so I wore my favorite  hi-lo dress from Target,  added a white blazer and kitten heels for my daytime look.  For after work, I switched shoes, ditched the blazer and changed my accessories.    Easy as one, two, three!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Summer Dresses for Under $40

Happy Hump Day all!

I can’t believe Summer is right around the corner! With warmer temps it can be challenging to keep cool while looking fab, so I scoured the internet for affordable and stylish dresses for work and play.  These dresses will allow you to remain comfortable and chic in the heat. My personal favorite is the graphic print dress from Macy’s which is currently on sale for $35.  With prices like these, you ‘ll have enough left over for a cold treat!

Have a wonderful day!

Crop It Out

Happy Hump Day all!

Reason number 500 to love Spring: cropped pants!   Their versatility is the reason why I love them so.   Whether you pair them with a blazer for work or a tank top for running errands, you can’t go wrong.  Cropped pants are an easy way to add print and color to your Spring/Summer wardrobe without the extra fuss.   Also they can be  a  cooler alternative to wearing jeans in the stifling  Summer heat.

Are you a fan of cropped pants?

Have a wonderful day!

This is the last week of the Spring Trends challenge and the final trend on the list is emerald green.  If you haven’t heard,  Pantone has crowned it the color of the season (side note: Who is Pantone? Lol).  I decided to end this thing with a bang and combine emerald-green with ALL the trends (black & white, floral and leather) featured in the challenge!

Please check out the other bloggers participating in the challenge for their take on emerald green:

Spring Trends Part III: Leather

TGIF everyone!

For week three of the Spring Trend challenge we are tackling leather. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “Leather for Spring?!” but since  Winter is still hanging on, wearing it doesn’t seem so crazy.  I don’t own real leather pieces like a jacket or skirt so I had to make do with my faux leather peplum shirt.  Honestly I don’t feel very Spring like  in this outfit.  I tried to incorporate it into a Spring outfit but it just didn’t work.  So instead of driving myself crazy I decided to recycle the outfit I wore in this  post.  The only change I made was switching out the ankle pant  for a full length trouser.

Although this trend  didn’t work for me,  don’t be discouraged to try it. You never know, it might just work for you!

Have a great weekend!

Spring Transitions

Happy Hump Day all!

This time of year is always tricky for me with DST and the transition of Winter into Spring. Lemme tell ya, DST has been kicking my butt! The time change has thrown off my sleep schedule so much I’ve been dragging myself out the bed in the morning. Last night I was finally able to get a full night of sleep so I hope this is a sign my body has adjusted to the time change. We’ll see!

Now that Spring is a mere week away I so badly want to ditch my down coat and multiple layers but the lingering cold weather won’t allow it. So until the weather warms, my Winter clothes will be sticking around. My outfit today is a combination of both seasons . Representing Winter we have my opaque tights, suede flats and spotted long sleeve cardigan. In the Spring corner we have my yellow pencil skirt, floral necklace and pink belt. The outfit works because I get to feel “Springy” while keeping warm against the late Winter chill.

How do you adjust to Spring transitions?

Have a wonderful day!

Casual Friday/Feel Good Day

TGIF everyone!

There once was a time I believed that plus size women should never wear printed clothing. I thought wearing prints would draw too much attention to my body which would then “invite” negative comments or reactions. So instead of thumbing my nose at those assholes, I gave in and hid myself in the most frumpy clothes I could find. This bold, geometric print INC dress I’m wearing today (from Gwynnie Bee ) would have been a definite “no-no” back then. Thank GOD that Georgette no longer exists! If she did I would’ve missed out on this fab dress that looks GREAT on my voluptuous body. Now, I could give a rats ass about what people might think or say about what I’m wearing. All that matters to me is when you feel good, you look good!

Have a wonderful weekend!
