Spring Trends for Under $45: The Work Edition

Happy Monday everyone!

Since everyone liked my previous Spring Trends post I decided to do another one focusing on workwear. I realize when I do these posts I neglect to include shoes, so this time I added styles that are under $45. These pieces are interchangable with one another to get maximum usage out of the clothes. Also these pieces can easily be incorporated into your current Spring/Summer wardrobe.

What additions will you be making to your Spring/Summer wardrobe?

Have a wonderful day!

Gotta Have it for Spring

Happy Monday all!

Since I’ve been home recuperating from gallbladder surgery (I’ll be back to work on Thursday), I have been scouring the web for Spring must haves. I picked the items below because I know I’ll get a lot of use throughout the Spring and Summer. I haven’t had a good Spring trench coat in years so that was high on my list. The maxi dress and ankle pants can be worn with blazers and colorful cardigans as the weather warms. The chevron skirt can’t be worn now with opaque tights and my faux leather jacket. As for the flats, who can resist a pair of yellow ones?! I often use yellow as a neutral in many of my outfits so they will get a lot of wear. I’ve been wanting sliver heels because they are a great substitute for white shoes (which don’t look so good on me! LOL).

What are some of your Spring must haves?

Have a great day!

Date Night

Happy Monday all!

My post today is not a work outfit! Shocking right?! (LOL!)  This is what I wore on my date Saturday night.  I really liked what I wore so I asked my date to take my picture (thanks Kobe!). One of my early New Year resolutions is to post more casual outfits to change things up abit.  Im excited for the upcoming year and the plans I have for the blog.

My Style Inspiration: The Style Climber

TGIF everyone!

Today I am starting a new feature called “My Style Inspiration” to showcase bloggers that inspire me with  their unique sense of  style and beauty.  Ever since I came across Candace’s blog The Style Climber, I’ve been hooked because of   her classy and effortlessly chic style.  Candace  flaunts her curves in vibrant colors and in rich  print (which you know I love!).  Her wonderful eye for  clothes makes a her  great thrifter.   She can take a vintage shirt and pair it in such a way you would never know it’s from another era.  Candace’s confidence , beauty and sophistication shines through in every  post , this is why she is my style inspiration.

Check out Canadce’s blog The Style Climber and show her some love!

Who is your style inspiration?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Casual Friday/Offering a Helping Hand

TGIF all!

What a week!  Unfortunately my family in the Bronx are still without power.  It’s  hard to watch them struggle  but they are extremely grateful to be alive and have a roof over their heads.  So many people in my home state of  New York and New Jersey are suffering terribly tonight and need our help.  The American Red Cross is accepting donations to help the millions of  Hurricane Sandy victims.  Your contribution may be small but it does make a difference.

With that said, I needed a punch of color to brighten my mood today.  This Sean Anthony Designs fuchsia ruffle blouse definitely does the trick.  I wanted the blouse to be the focus of attention, so I paired it with my coated black INC blazer and printed Eloquii ankle pants.

Have a wonderful weekend!

*Disclaimer: I am not affiliated or a member of the Red Cross. I was not asked by the Red Cross to solicit  donations.

Fall Foliage

Happy Hump Day all!

Seeing the leaves turn is one of my favorite parts of Autumn. The warm hues are lush and bright especially in the afternoon sun. I’m fortunate to see this wonderful display of color everyday when I walk to the train station. My outfit today is inspired by changing leaves and their brilliant colors.

What is your favorite part of Fall?

Have a wonderful evening!

Casual Friday/Reclaiming the Booty

TGIF everyone!

I’ve been DYING for a pair of magenta colored pants for a while now, so when I saw these pants on Eloquii’s website I jumped all over them. When I put  them on, I was surprised by the snug fit around my hips and butt. As far as I could remember, I’ve always had a love/dislike (I refuse to say “hate”) relationship with my booty.   I grew up knowing I had a large posterior but  others began to notice the same once I hit middle school.    From the 6th to 8th grades I was  called “Getta the Butt” (the boy who started this proudly told me he didn’t want call me Jabba the Hut so he came up with Getta the Butt!).  Things hit a fever pitch in 10th grade  when the EU song “Da Butt” came out.  Almost on a daily basis  I was greeted by male classmates singing “Getta got a big ol’ butt…OH YEAH!”  During those years I would pray to God to deflate the size of my derrière so the teasing (and unwanted stares) would stop.  Unfortunately my prayers went unanswered and I started wearing  oversized clothes to deflect attention away from my butt.

Fast forward to 40-year-old me being flooded by unpleasant memories while trying on these pants. For a millisecond I thought about returning them but I stopped. Returning the pants will not make my booty any smaller than it is. By returning them, I would be allowing negative self-doubt to rule me again.  So  I decided to keep the pants and show off   my glorious booty!

Have a wonderful weekend!
