Ruana Love With Catherines

TGIF all!

When it comes to the seasons Fall is my second favorite after Spring.  Philadelphia comes alive with the brilliant fall foliage and various Autumnal activities.  I love being in the crisp Fall air so I need outerwear that is warm yet stylish.   When I saw Catherines  plaid reversible ruana I knew it would fit the bill perfectly.   Plaid is having a major resurgence this Fall so this ruana is definitely on trend. Also ruanas are  the quintessential Fall piece for warmth and style. This ruana is super versatile and can be worn in a variety of ways to fit your lifestyle.  I decided to belt the ruana over Catherines  Universal jean and a turtleneck for a layered casual look that can be worn to a outdoor farmer’s market.  For a cozy work look wear it over a faux leather skirt and boots . For  weekend errands it can be worn with  a pair of sneakers and and a denim shirt for a quick casual outfit. On more chillier days, layering a thicker turtleneck under the ruana with a pair of corduroy pants can provide added warmth.  The ways this ruana can be styled is endless. Plus it’s moderately priced so you’re not breaking the bank for warm stylish outwear.

Catherines has a variety of outerwear options to fit you needs this Fall. Head over there and check them out!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Purple Haze

TGIF all!

Apparently purple is having a moment and I’m here for it.  Purple is one of those  colors that looks good on all skin tones. It’s also a color that looks great with other vibrant hues such as yellow and red.  To give your Fall look a boost of color wear light and dark shades of purple together for a trendy monochrome look.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fall Trend: Utility Jumpsuit

Happy Hump Day all!

Fall has ushered in another  group of  fashion trends.  This year utility jumpsuits (or boiler suits) have been deem one of the “must have” items. I know jumpsuits can be problematic especially when you got to use the bathroom but this trend is so good! It’s an item that looks good on all body types and shapes.  Utility suits can easily be dressed up or down depending on your preference. The suits usually come in neutral colors so they can be easily incorporated into your current wardrobe.  As the weather cools further you can  layer it with long cardigan or a turtleneck underneath for extra warmth.

Needless to say the utility jumpsuit is one trend I completely support.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Getting Back To Me…Again

Happy Hump Day all!

I know it’s been awhile since I last posted. I wish I could blame my hiatus on being busy but the truth is I had lost my motivation to blog.  In fact I lost interest in a lot of things. For the past few weeks I was basically functioning on autopilot and had stopped showing up for myself. All of this came to head when I attended Curvy Con last month. By that time my confidence had dwindled and I was feeling disconnected from myself.  After Curvy Con I knew I needed to get my shit together so I could go back to being myself.  I had to acknowledge that I was depressed and needed help to get out of this funk. I had been going to therapy but I really wasn’t doing the work to negative behaviors.  I’ve recommitted myself to the therapeutic process and doing the work to make necessary changes.  It’s so easy to slide down the hole of negativity and hard as hell to climb out of it.

Showing up for yourself is recognizing things are going sideways and getting help correcting the ship. It also means you care about yourself more than you realize. Trust me It’s okay to fall down and get back up…repeatedly.  It doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you are a wonderfully flawed human.

Have a wonderful day!

Fall Denim With Catherines

TGIF all!

With Fall right around the corner I’m looking forward to reintroducing denim into my wardrobe.  During the Summer my jeans go on hiatus because its way to hot to wear them comfortably (trust me I’ve tried!).   During the Fall I wear my jeans a lot so I’m always on the hunt for jeans that are comfortable and fit well.  Enter Catherines’ Universal Straight Leg Jean. According to Catherines the jeans were made to mold to different body types and shapes. I can attest the jeans definitely hug and flatter my curves. I like how the elastic waist eliminates the dreaded waist gap some of us plus gals deal with.  Overall I like the jeans and found them to be very comfortable. Plus the affordable price tag wont break the bank (the jeans are currently 40% off) I paired the jeans with this cool plaid duster from Catherines to create a casual weekend outfit that would look good on everybody (trust me, this duster will be in heavy rotation this fall).

So if you’re looking to add a new pair of jeans to your Fall wardrobe, I highly recommend you give Catherines Universal jeans a try!
