Office Holiday Party Survival Tips

Happy Hump Day all!

Office Holiday parties can be either fun or boring depending on the relationship you have with your co-workers.  Attending your work party shouldn’t add to the stress of the season. Here are a few tips on how to make the most of your office holiday party!

  1. Be Social:  Mingling is a great way to get know co-workers you may have little contact with during your workday. If you’re not comfortable talking to someone you don’t know its okay to gravitate towards familiar faces.
  2. Smile: Yes, smile and make eye contact. You don’t want to be the Grinch at the party.
  3. Participate: If your office party has entertainment like dancing get out there and jiggy with it! Participate in your office Pollyanna or Secret Santa gift exchanges.  This way you get a little gift for coming!
  4. Have an exit strategy: If office parties aren’t your thing but you’re mandated to be there, make the most of your time and break out.

What are some of you office party survival tips?

Holiday Style Your Way

Happy Hump Day all!

Now that the holiday season is in full swing, retailers will have you believe every holiday outfit has to shine.  Obviously that isn’t true and its okay not to want to  dress in head to toe sequins.  Some of the best party outfits are ones that reflect who you are. That’s why it’s important not to overthink or stress yourself out when it comes to party dressing.   You can still wow without looking like a disco ball.   Remember the only person you need to dress for is yourself.   If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed take a step back and recenter yourself.  Don’t wait to the last minute to decide what to wear because that can lead to further unnecessary stress.  Give yourself ample time (if you have an advance invite) to put together a look that is comfortable and makes you feel good.  Once you figure out an outfit that makes you feel great, repeat it! Like mama use to say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” And don’t forget to go and have a good time!

Have a wonderful day!

Color Expedition

Happy Thursday y’all!

Just because Fall slowing turning into Winter doesn’t mean experimenting with color has to stop. I’m a firm believer that color should be worn all year around.  Plus experimenting with color is a fun way to rework the existing items in your wardrobe.  If you’re new to wearing color it’s okay to start by taking baby steps. Start off by wearing a pop of color with a dark hues such as black and brown to liven up your outfit.  Primary colors  (red, yellow and blue) are great introductory colors because they partner well with other shades.  As you become more confident with experimenting with color try pairing two bold hues such as orange and pink together.  Once you’ve become an expert in color experimentation why not take it up a notch and incorporate  neon into your outfit (whoa!).    Before you know it you’ll have experimenting with color down pact by the beginning of the New Year!

How do you incorporate color into your Fall/Winter wardrobe?

Summer Hold Over

Happy Tuesday all!

While Summer has come and gone, you can still transition some of your favorite pieces into the Fall.  Your favorite Summer midi skirt can go perfectly with a blazer, blouse and loafers.   Summer dresses are easy to transition because they can be layered over a turtleneck or shirt.  On chilly mornings add a moto jacket with your layered dress look for more warmth.  A short dress can be worn as a tunic over leggings and ankle boots. Even a pair of Bermuda shorts can be transition into the Fall. Wearing a pair of tights and sweater with the shorts creates a fun Fall look.  Transitioning your Summer items into the Fall allows you to refresh your wardrobe and get more out of your clothes.

What are some other Summer items that can be transitioned into the Fall?

Have a wonderful day!
