Happy Monday all!

Initially this post was going to be about my 70’s inspired outfit but when I saw the pics all I could focus on is my gut.  I’ve been in a tug of war battle with my gut for over a year.   Since I’ve gained weight my pooch has gotten noticeably bigger and I’ve become super self conscious about it.  I’ve become so self conscious  I stopped tucking my shirt into my pants to conceal the size of it.  I now only wear pants with shirts I know that will would cover my gut.  During my blog shoots I would make myself almost dizzy sucking in my pooch to make it look smaller.  Doing all of these extra things to conceal my gut has made me unhappy.  I don’t want to stop tucking shirts in my shirts or avoiding pants. So I’ve decided to to take control and restart my exercise routine to reduce the size of my pooch.  My goal is not to have a flat stomach but to be comfortable with my fleshy pooch again.

So if you have something you are super self conscious about know that you are not alone.  We all have something we want to change about our bodies.  The trick is still loving yourself despite your flaws.

Have a wonderful day!

TGIF all!

When it was announced that one of my favorite bloggers Tanesha from Girl With Curves was collaborating  with Dia & Co. I couldn’t wait to see her collection. The collection completely embodies her style with sleek, classic pieces that can easily transition into any wardrobe.  From skirts to coats the collection provides another affordable (prices range from $49-99) option for clothing for plus size women.  What is even better is that you can try out the collection at home when you sign up for  Dia & Co.  subscription based service.  You only pay for what items you keep and the rest you send back with no additional charge.  Dia does charge a $20 styling fee that goes towards the items you keep and provides a 25% discount if you decide to keep everything in your box.  Now thats what I call incentive!

Sign up and shop the collection here!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Monday all!

During happy hour last Friday with my BFF I told her I often I feel like I have nothing to wear.  She rolled her eyes and  gave me the  “are you serious?!” look.  She said “Getta you have a room full of clothes. How could you not have anything to wear?” While I didn’t have an answer for her, it did get me thinking about my situation.  What is the barrier that stops me from fully utilizing the clothes in my closet? In responding to that question, I had to acknowledge that I am a life long procrastinator.  For example, I’ll promise to lay out my work outfit the night before but then I’ll procrastinate which leads to me scrambling in the morning.  When I scramble I grab whatever is easily available.  There have been several mornings where I’ve been late to work because of my mad dash to get dressed.  In an effort to combat my procrastination, on Sundays I’ve been selecting outfits for the week.  Once I select the outfits, I make them easily accessible in the morning. So far things have been going smoothly.  I’ve been able to make my train and get to work on time. I’m not scrambling for 10 minutes picking out an outfit.  One of the benefits is that I get to  wear long neglected items in my closet like the skirt in this post.

I still struggle with procrastinating (like right now! lol) but I’m proud to say I’ve retired the saying “I don’t have anything to wear!”

Have a wonderful day!

TGIF all!

When I was little my mom would say I had “bat legs”; full legs that taper down to small ankles. As silly as it sounds, for years I was very self conscious about my ankles.  I always felt awkward having a big body and tiny ankles.   For years I would wear black ankle boots with black tights to try and camouflage them.  I had convinced myself that my ankles were too small to wear  booties without tights.   After years of agonizing about my ankles, I’ve decided to let it go.  No amount of hand wringing is going to make my ankles bigger.  So instead of obsessing about how my legs look in ankle boots, I’m just going to wear them and keep it moving.  Besides I highly doubt anyone cares about my “bat legs”!

Have a wonderful weekend!
