Shining Through

Happy Monday all!

Initially this was going to be a post about how who inspired my outfit but honestly August has been a shitty time for me.  I dont’ feel like pretending to be alright when everything seems to be falling apart.  I want to talk about being good to yourself when life hands you lemons and you don’t know how to make the lemonade. I’m here to say its okay NOT to be strong when you’re supposed to “stay strong”.  It’s okay to bawl your eyes out.  It’s okay to be alone and recenter yourself.  It’s okay to hang out in your PJs and wallow just a little bit.  It’s okay to eat your favorite comfort food during this time (yesterday I was like “fuck it” and ate two doughnuts).  It’s okay to put yourself ahead of others so you can get back on track.  It’s okay to lean on your faith and pray for clarity.  It’s okay to seek professional help to assist you in navigating this rough patch. You are not a failure because you don’t have it all  together.  You are not a loser because your life isn’t “perfect” (trust me, NOTHING is perfect).  Know that no matter what happens, this too shall pass.

Have a wonderful day!

I’ve found that’s one of the good things about getting older: Having the wisdom to know when you need to help yourself. You’re here for a reason and you need to be the best you that you can be. There’s no shame in knowing you need a break and seeking advice, whether that’s from a therapist, doctor, or whoever. I hope you’re feeling better soon. In the meantime, at least you look marvelous!

I totally agree with you. As I’ve gotten older I’m more open to seeking help than just trying to deal with the issue alone. While things are not the best right now, I know I will see better days. Thank you!

Awww…I’m simply a reader and fan of your blog, but am so sorry you’re having a crappy time. It truly stinks to be in that predicament. You’re doing right, giving yourself permission to feel all the feels and do whatever it is that you feel like doing to help yourself along. The clouds will lift in time. Wishing you the best.

This post really hits on a fact of life. It is easy to think everyone else has it better and is enjoying the good life but the reality is that things are often difficult and hard to deal with. One thing is for certain – you are a very authentic and stunning woman who will continue to inspire your readers with your fabulous style!

You are so right about this. I’ve definitely fallen victim to this way of thinking. Thank you for your sweet words!

Yes to August being a real piece of work. It is the suckiest month of the whole damn year. I’m sorry yours was this way, too.

You are in a reflective state of mind and style. This is how we figure things out, and gather strength to move forward. Light is life. Light is hope.

Thank you for your words of encouragement!

Thanks. This month has sucked! But what month hasn’t since that man got in power?

I’m thinking of getting a skirt like this but in bronze, to match my hair.
