Phenomenal at 45

TGIF all!

Can we talk for a second? I don’t know about you but I’m tired of people (men, women, society, dogs, etc.) telling us women over 40 what to do.  I’m sick of hearing what we’re supposed to look like, act like and dress like.  Here’s a newsflash…MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! I am a grown ass woman and I know what is best for me, so stop! I don’t need your validation, approval or whatever.  You can take your judgement, turned up nose and “she’s too old to be wearing that” and stuff it! If you don’t like it, turn away or better yet go work on your life instead of worrying about mine. Being 40, 45 or 65 doesn’t mean we go wait in a corner to shrivel up and die.  For many of us (including myself) these years have represented some of the best of our lives. There are empty nesters who are finally able to finish that degree or change their career now that their children are grown.  Several of us have found freedom in simply not giving a f**k what others think of us anymore (family is included in this too!). Growing old as a woman is not a death sentence or a signal that life is over. In fact it’s the complete opposite. You and I don’t need to prove this to others because we’re too busy living our best lives!

Have a wonderful weekend!

As soon to be 55 year old, Brava! to you for your empowering words. I can honestly say that as you get older it DOES get better. I am truly at my best and look forward to continuing my evolution. You look great and clearly feel great!

Sounds like people have been giving you a hard time, and I’m very sorry to hear that. I find that, as I get older, I care less and less what other people think of me. Keep up your wonderful self, and don’t let the idiots get you down!

I think you look great! At 53 I no longer care what people think of me. If they’ve got a valid point, I’ll take that into consideration but if they have nothing but negative things to say, I just brush it off and move on. There comes a certain point in life when you just don’t need all that negativity.

One of my favorite expressions, which I use often, is… “I’m probably too old to be wearing this… but then again, I’m also too old to care!” So yeah, deal with it people, that’s what I say! And this is coming from a 59 year old who reads your blog every day. Your style inspires me. Keep being YOU!

All I can say is AMEN!

I hope no one is giving you shit, because you Rock your style every time. Being older has nothing to do with with what we wear, and at 65 I wear what I want with reckless abandon. Enjoy every moment. . .

Girl please! People need to stand back and take notice! You have style, flair and confidence to go with everything you step out in! There will always be haters, and as far I know not every woman can pull off every style, but I say if you look good in it wear it. I agree with Madam too Much (she and I are the same age) Life is too short…..

Thanks for putting it out there Grown and Curvy Woman! I agree with all the other comments. Your statement is especially important for women that are struggling to deal with negative comments and judgements about how she look and act at a certain age.

I always enjoy your posts and your beautiful smile. I can’t imagine what anyone finds about your style to give your grief about because you always look just fabulous. But your attitude is spot on; let haters mind their own business and take a look at themselves. You are doing it right. Keep it up!!
