Day Tripping: Smorgasburg

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Last Saturday along with my girls Jami and Sandra, I finally made it to Smorgasburg.  I’ve been trying to get to there for the past two years but every time I tried to go, something would come up to stop me.  So when I decided to visit NYC this past weekend, I was determined to go and boy was it worth the wait!

Smorgasburg is an extremely popular Brooklyn food festival that is held every weekend from April until November. The festival showcases over 100+ local food vendors serving a variety of cuisines from multiple cultures.  We went to the Williamsburg Smorgasburg location at the East River State Park overlooking the Manhattan skyline.  Jami and Sandra had been before so they helped me get my bearings because it can be a tad bit overwhelming.  They steered me to their favorite vendors and I ate myself silly!  I had insanely delicious mofongo  (a traditional Puerto Rican dish consisting of mashed plantains &  seasoning topped with pork) for the first time, ate the BEST DONUT EVER from Dough and sipped on a cranberry lemonade that was so good it would make you slap your mama! Needless to say, I left Smorgasburg with a full belly and promising to return ASAP.

So if you find yourself  in NYC for a weekend, put Smorgasburg on the top of your to do list.   Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

Have a wonderful day!

Oh my gosh that sounds so good. I love finding new food I’ve never tried before and going there every weekend sounds like a great way to try without spending a lot of money going into a restaurant. Very fun!
