Casual Friday: In Defense of White Pants

TGIF all!

I don’t think there is an item of clothing so marginalized as white pants.  Either people love them or hate them.  For many PS women, white pants are off limits because for years it has been crammed down our throats that we shouldn’t wear them.  That kind of toxic message can be hard to get out of your head.  I sometimes struggle with wearing white pants because honestly they can highlight the less flattering parts of our body (for me it’s my booty).  Despite this, there isn’t a shortage of white pants for PS bodies and that is AWESOME.  There now is a variety of white pant styles to fit your comfort level.  I’m positively obsessed with wide leg crop pants!   I love how they look on me. So when I saw Old Navy offered a white pair in PS, I quickly snatched them up (also they were on sale for $14 …SCORE!!!). These pants are comfy, stretchy and look good on my heavy bottom.

Wearing white pants shouldn’t be seen as an act of bravery or defiance of “fashion rules” for PS women.  We have the right to wear clothing that makes us look and  feel good…period.  I wear colored pants all the time so why should I avoid wearing white?  Honestly they’re just pants so go find a white pair YOU like and rock it out!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I’m in total agreement—-any age, any size—-they are so perfect. It kills me that some won’t wear them because they get them dirty—-hog wash is what I say. Everything gets dirty and that’s what oxyclean is for! jodie

I’m with you. I love white pants. I own several pairs, and even white shorts and skirts. For me, there’s nothing like white that brings out the crispness or boldness of whatever color you wear it with. Funny enough though, I do not feel the same about white shirts. I think they look awful on me, but bring on the pants!

Chile, you are braver than me…not only because of messages about what we should and shouldn’t wear…but I’m just afraid of getting them dirty! *lol* In any case you look great!

Hmmm, I love the pristine crispness of white. It conjures clinical efficiency and is the elegant blank canvas that has the power to transform a look from slovenly to sleek. Yet, I find I turn away from white, as pen marks, food, soot and urban muck and grime appear to find my white attire so completely attractive as to stick limpet-like to me. I guess I will simply look on with a heady mix of envy and awe as I watch the cool chicks stride proudly past in their white ensemble.

Haha the only reason I hate white pants is because I’m a grot and manage to spill stuff all over them within five seconds of wearing them. They look AMAZING on you with your beautiful dark skin. I just love them!
p.s. what’s with your hair!!!! Has it grown mega fast or did you get (gasp) extensions?
p.s.s. you’re looking fab, as always! Mwah

My issue with white pants is my inability to keep them clean.

This post was right on time. I just brought my first pair of white pants this weekend. I also had the thought that plus size women couldn’t wear them. I am going to rock my white pants. Great outfit, love the twist too.
