Breaking the Winter Rut

Happy Monday all!

It’s no secret I dislike hate Winter.  The harsh cold saps all the energy right out of you.  I literally spend my days daydreaming about moving to Florida and leaving all the Winter weather behind.  I find that my  intense dislike hatred of Winter spills over to the point I just don’t feel like getting dressed  up for work.  I try to fight this by injecting color into my outfits to brighten my mood. But as soon as a get a colorful ensemble together, we get like  20 inches of snow and I’m back to square one!  So today in  an effort to keep things fresh,  I dug out my old   Dorothy Perkins dress and decided to wear it as top under my faux leather skirt.   I was happily surprised to see the combination of the polka dots and faux leather work together.  I picked the leather skirt because I knew it would give some edge to the outfit and elevate my usual skirt combo. Now I’m thinking of other ways to remix my wardrobe to keep me out my Winter rut!

How do you break your style ruts?

Have a wonderful day!

Untucking the dress just enough to make it look like a peplum top is genius! It’s a way to make dresses with defined waists or seams at the waist work as tops layered under skirts. Like you, I also use color to inject some sunshine into my winter outfits. (Though, winter in Savannah isn’t much of a winter. I understand if you hate me. lol But remember, I had my share of 26 winters in Michigan, so I’ve paid my dues!)

That’s an awesome look and so creative to use the dress as a top.

    So creative!

You don’t want to move to Florida – too much humidity, and hurricanes, and tornadoes, and rain. Try Arizona – no humidity (literally – our normal is less than 10%), no hurricanes, no snow, no tornadoes, no rain (well, about 12″ annually in a good year), and 100+ in the summer. But the winter makes up for it – highs around 70 and lows in the 40s – what more could you want? Oh, and sunshine every day!
