Casual Friday/Learning Curve

TGIF all!

You know when you have an idea  for an outfit but when you put it on its nothing like you imagined? That is how I feel about my outfit today.  I thought I would create a striped suit with my Old Navy pencil skirt and Nordstrom Rack blazer.  In my mind it thought it would look stylish but  after I put it on, I didn’t feel so stylish.     Since I always wait to the last minute to get dressed in the morning, I had no choice but to wear it to work. While I don’t hate the outfit, I  think I should have worn something different with the skirt. The beauty of fashion is that you can  take risks and try new things.   Through trial and error you learn what does and doesn’t work for you.   I will definitely wear these separates again, just not together!

How do you handle a fashion disappointment?

I’m off to Vegas tomorrow morning so I will be back next Wednesday with  pics of my mini vacation!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I always have disappointments. Sometimes I laugh at myself b/c what I wear to work some days.
Some days I just don’t care and want to be comfortable. Your outfit above would have look better with a solid jacket or skirt. I also think the necklace is not enough vava voom. A silver on white doesn’t pop for me.

I definitely feel you on the sliver on white. I needed something colorful to bring it out more.

Enjoy the mini vacation! Hey, we make mistakes at times!

I actually kinda like this! Not the top so much but the jacket and skirt together I like – maybe with a colored top with a lower neckline and colored belt? Not sure. But I love the try and don’t think it was a complete miss. Love the hair btw – are you going do to a quick hair update? I always love a somewhat edgy hair style with more conservative clothes – I like to do that myself (I have natural hair too.) Have a great time in Vegas!

i love stripes! maybe a rich colour top but you still look fabulous – and its your desire to experiment, take risks and have fun with fashion which produces awesome outfits – i think my mistakes have comedy value, so bad they make me laugh hehe – have the best time in vegas x

Trust me alot of my fashion risks are a fail but I wont stop experimenting. I like it too much! 🙂

I like the jacket and skirt together. Eh, sometimes we have to live and learn. Enjoy Vegas!

I know exactly how you feel!!! However, I think these two pieces look great together.

It’s the worst feeling not being comfortable in an outfit,a nd not having time to change 🙂

I need to stop waiting for the last minute to get dressed in the AM so I can correct my fashion mistakes! LOL

Have a fantastic time in Vegas! I love the pieces individually, but I agree that matching them together doesn’t quite work. I’d love to see the blazer with your red pants from the red suit post you did the other day! (Or the red blazer with the striped skirt)

I definitely had a GREAT time in Vegas! I like your idea of wearing the striped skirt with my red blazer. I will definitely try that!

This happens to me all the time! I think you look good here though. I definitely feel you though; when I try to match and it is a bit off it bugs me, so I usually avoid that kind of look too. It’s like I want to match but then I feel too matchy I guess. That blazer would look fab with floral though.

I never thought of wearing stripes with a floral print. Ill have to try that! Thank you for your comment and suggestion!

I think the outfit looks great on you and that the stripes are really fun! Maybe a pop of color (a scarf or necklace or bright top) near your face next time?

    • January 30, 2013 / 4:10 pm

I agree. I think the black & white top didnt help the outfit much. I appreciate your feedback! 🙂

Love this post and honesty, it made me laugh, probably because I can totally relate. I’m also one to rush out the door and believe me, I have made fashion mistakes quite a few times. I think its best to either old your head uo high and act like you think its awesome or just laugh at yourself all day.
I really do like both pieces of your suit, which will look great as separate pieces and very versatile. You are going to get some good wear out of both of them.

    • January 31, 2013 / 9:08 pm

Im so glad you can relate. While I promised to not wait to the last minute to get dressed, I did it again this morning! Arrgh! LOL

I completely agree with you when you say that you should either hold your head up high or laugh all day. Ive done both a few times so I can relate!

I love both the pieces, and your willingness to take a risk! You could start an whole new fashion craze with your different perspective on how pieces work together…and you’d never know unless you tried it! I love to see your outfits!

    • January 31, 2013 / 9:06 pm

Thank you! Hmmm…I like the sound of starting a new fashion craze! 🙂

I like your outfit! Only thing I can see that might not work is that the stripes are only just a little bit different. I think it would work better if they were a LOT different (like the jacket with narrow stripes but the skirt with broad stripes) and maybe with a splash of red somewhere, like a red tee or hair piece or something. 🙂 But, as always, the best part about your outfit is your gorgeous smile. xo

Thank you for your suggestions. I like the idea of pairing different stripes together. Thank you for always giving my smile a shout out! 🙂
